Here comes Santa Claus…to Cornwall!

CORNWALL – The big man in red is making a stop in Cornwall Saturday afternoon.

The 43rd Annual Santa Claus Parade starts at 5 p.m. at the St. Lawrence High School and makes its way down Second Street.

But instead of finishing at the Royal Canadian Legion, the parade will finish at Bedford Street due to construction in the area.

This will allow trucks to turn down Cumberland Street, avoiding the construction at Brookdale Avenue.

Drivers should take note that a section of Cumberland Street, south of Second Street West, will be blocked in the evening as trucks with floats navigate the area.

Parade spokesman Terry Muir says, as of Friday night, almost 50 floats and groups are in this year’s parade.

The theme this year is β€œAn olde-fashioned Christmas.”

Downtown Cornwall will also be bustling with plenty of other activities during the day, including Santa’s Street Hockey Challenge for children ages 6-14.
