SD&G – The federal government is putting money into a comedic-based Francophone culture project in SD&G.

MP Guy Lauzon and Glengarry-Prescott-Russell MP Pierre Lemieux announced $75,000 in funding over two years during a news conference at the Cornwall Civic Complex this morning.

Here’s the punchline.

The money will be used to send a dozen to 15 young Francophones to a comedy school (École nationale de l’humour) and then present their comedy routines at a special Just for Laughs Festival in May, 2015.

“We have been able to promote bilingualism and culture in our community with their support, and this program provides another opportunity to build on our mutual goals,” said MP Guy Lauzon.

The performance at Aultsville Theater will have a theme of the 400th anniversary of French presence in Ontario.
