CORNWALL – The audio recording of closed-door meetings could be something coming back to Cornwall city council.

During a municipal orientation by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs Friday afternoon, Coun. Andre Rivette asked spokesman Jon King about the practice of audio recording in-camera meetings.

King says a written account of the meeting must be produced and some municipalities have even gone as far as audio recordings.

Mayor-elect Leslie O’Shaughnessy said it had been done in Cornwall prior to 2006 but couldn’t come up with an explanation for why the practice stopped.

The last city council came under fire for antics behind closed doors and was sanctioned by the private meeting investigator for its conduct toward Andre Rivette.
