CORNWALL – For some it will be a refresher but for at least four newly-elected councillors it will be a quick learning curve.

Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing spokesman Jon King will be in Cornwall Friday to make a presentation on local governance.

The 43 slide PowerPoint will outline the roles of all the players at city hall, how to have effective meetings, as well as freedom of information and conflict of interest rules.

The workshop also has an extensive section on how to properly conduct and notify the public about closed-door meetings.

There will also be time for newly-elected officials to asked questions.

The meeting starts on Friday at 2 p.m. in the council chambers at city hall.

The new Cornwall city council and mayor – Leslie O’Shaughnessy – will be sworn in Dec. 1.
