Doctor-politician headliner for Conservative breakfast

SD&SG – Characterized as a rising star in the federal Conservative party, Dr. Kellie Leitch will speak at the SD&SG Conservative Association breakfast later this month.

Dr. Leitch, 44, is an orthopedic pediatric surgeon at Sick Kids Hospital. She also serves as an associate professor at the University of Toronto.

In July, 2013, Prime Minister Harper named her minister of labour and minister for the status of women.

Dr. Leitch has also been an Order of Ontario recipient for her work for children and youth.

“She has boundless energy, and she has an amazing story to tell about her time in the medical profession and public life. I am very happy she agreed to join us in Cornwall,” said local MP Guy Lauzon.

The breakfast is happening Nov. 29 at 8:30 a.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion in Cornwall. Tickets are $10 and are available by calling Jane Cox at 613-543-3567.
