Basement fire on Cornwall’s Sandfield Cres.

CORNWALL – City firefighters had to snuff out a basement fire in the neighbourhood behind the Cornwall Community Hospital.

Emergency crews were called to a house on Sandfield Crescent Wednesday afternoon after a neighbour spotted the fire.

The basement reportedly has extensive damage and there’s smoke damage through the rest of the home.

There were no injuries as the residents weren’t home at the time of the fire.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.
