LONG SAULT – A man has been killed in a single motor vehicle crash on Highway 401, just west of Long Sault.

Provincial police say a westbound 2006 Chevrolet HHR left the highway and flipped on its side in the median, just west of the Moulinette Road exit, just after 2 p.m. Friday afternoon.

A passenger, 66, from Etobicoke was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver – a 65-year-old Bradford woman – was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The westbound side of Highway 401 was down to one lane in the area for most of the afternoon.

O.P.P. Technical Traffic Collision Investigators were combing the scene for clues as to why the driver lost control and the car suddenly left the roadway.
