CORNWALL – Just over 2,400 voters have made their marks for Cornwall city council and school board trustee during the first wave of advance polls. City Clerk Helen Finn says 2,540 voters had cast ballots as of the end of the day on Tuesday. Finn says 100 voters came to city hall on Tuesday alone. The first wave of polling happened over three days at Cornwall Square, the Benson Center and Eastcourt Mall.
To give you a comparison, 3,822 voters cast their vote during the entire advance polling period in the 2006 municipal election in Cornwall. At that time there were five candidates running for mayor and 27 for city councillor. (Numbers for the 2011 election were unavailable).
The advanced poll at city hall continues today and every weekend through Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
