Advance voting begins

CORNWALL – Advance voting in the 2014 municipal election in Cornwall has begun.

Polls opened in three locations – Cornwall Square, the Benson Center and Eastcourt Mall – opened just after 9:30 a.m. this morning. They’ll be open until 6 p.m.

This is the first wave where voters can cast their ballots ahead of the Election Day, Oct. 27. The polls will be open tomorrow at the same time and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until 5 p.m.

A second wave of advance voting happens Oct. 14-17 and 20-21. The second wave will be 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Voters with disabilities have been encouraged to take advantage of the early voting service.

The city is also setting up advance polls on Saturday and some apartment complexes and seniors’ buildings.

Unlike the provincial election, voters in Cornwall don’t have assigned polls. You can go to whichever one is closest to you.

In order to vote you need a piece of ID, such as a driver’s licence, and your Voter Notice Card which recently came in the mail.
