BROCKVILLE – The director of education for the Upper Canada District School Board is retiring. In a rather abrupt departure, the board announced yesterday that David Thomas would be retiring that day. “David has indicated that he has taken UCDSB as far as he can and he recognizes it is time for new staff leadership,” said UCDSB School Board Chairman Greg Pietersma in a release. Charlotte Patterson will replace Thomas in the interim. Patterson has a 35 year career with the board and is a former superintendent of human resources and superintendent of schools. Pietersma says the board will start recruiting a new director of education shortly.
