ALEXANDRIA – A Quebec man has been charged after leading SD&G O.P.P. on a high speed chase.
An officer tried to stop an erratically-driven vehicle on Main Street here just after 5 p.m. yesterday afternoon.
But when the lights on the cruiser went on, the vehicle took off south on West Boundary Road before crashing in a ditch at the south end of town.
Police say the vehicle had been reported stolen from Quebec City. Officers also say the accused gave them a false name after his arrest.
A 21-year-old man from the Gatineau-area is charged with flight from police, dangerous driving, theft of a motor vehicle, possession of stolen property, impersonation and resisting arrest.
He will be in a Cornwall bail court today.
