CORNWALL, Ont. – You’ll be seeing some more bicycle lanes on Second Street East in the next couple of weeks. For motorists, it will mean a few delays as traffic will be reduced to one lane.

The city is starting to rub out the old traffic lines on Second East, from Amelia Street to Anderson Drive.

When the painting is finished there will be one lane in each direction for traffic as well as a shared third turning lane in the center. The dedicated bicycle lanes will be on both sides of the street.

The work should be done by Oct. 16 but that could change depending on the weather.

This work is similar to the section of Second Street West done in 2011 between Augustus Street and Hoople Avenue.

This is part of the city’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan.
