Gilles Latour makes first court appearance

CORNWALL, Ont. – A Cornwall financial adviser will be back in a city courtroom later this month.

Gilles Latour made his first appearance in a Cornwall court yesterday to answer to fraud-related charges.

He was charged with fraud over $5,000, theft by conversion, false pretenses and breach of trust after a five month Cornwall police investigation.

Latour is accused of defrauding someone of $36,000 by not directing funds as instructed and also breach of trust by converting $165,000 for a use not authorized by another investor, according to court documents obtained by the Seaway News.

The alleged incidents are said to have happened between May, 2012 and December, 2013

Latour will be back in court Oct. 28.
