‘Significant’ demand for flood upgrade rebate: city

(Newswatch Group/File)

CORNWALL, Ont. – The city says applications for flood upgrade subsidies are pouring into their office. Over 120 applications have been received as of today, according to the city. There’s no application deadline. Homeowners can receive a rebate of up to $3,600 for fixing flood prone areas of their home such as lot grading and disconnecting their eavestrough from the sewer system. The city has seen two significant floods – one in 2010 and the other last year where people’s basements were swamped. You can access the flood upgrade rebate application form on the city’s website or visit their municipal works office on Ontario Street.
