CORNWALL, Ont. – A volunteer-based program to get holiday partiers home safely with their vehicles is temporarily folding. Operation Red Nose had been operating in Cornwall for three years. However, spokesman Ray Eady says the Ontario Safety League and the Quebec counterpart of OPN (where the Cornwall operation is based) did not renew their contract. In a Facebook posting, Eady says without funding from the Ontario Safety League the program is too costly for the Kinsmen Club of Cornwall to operate. Eady is hoping to get the program back for the 2015 holiday season. If a service club or company wants to help with Operation Red Nose they’re asked to contact Eady at 613-933-3512 x5011 or ray@cornwallkin.com. Eady is also thanking the volunteers and others who put their time in over the past three years to make the program a success.
