ORILLIA, Ont. – Four people lost their lives over the Labour Day weekend and police half of those were directly caused by distracted driving. None of those deaths happened in SD&G. The tragedies came as O.P.P. put 10 SUV’s on the highways during the long weekend specifically targeting distracted driving. Thirty-nine people have been killed so far this year due to distracted driving. So far this year police have given out over 11,500 tickets for fiddling with hand-held devices while behind the wheel.
