Beaches posted ahead of Civic Holiday weekend

The beach at this campground is one of four posted for high levels of E. coli.

CORNWALL, Ont. — Some beach-goers in SD&G may be a little disappointed this weekend. The Eastern Ontario Health Unit has posted four area beaches because of high-than-normal levels of bacteria. They are Morrisburg Beach, Riverside Cedar, Upper Canada Campground and Camp Kagama (which is on Morrison Island near the Upper Canada Migratory Bird Sanctuary). These beaches could reopen if the bacteria levels return to acceptable levels. Swimming in E. coli contaminated waters can lead to stomach cramps, diarrhea, fever and more serious complications such as kidney failure.
