Friday and Saturday, February 24th and 25th, customers and media are invited to join the Champlain Regional Cancer Program, the Colorectal Cancer Association of Canada (CCAC) and Pendopharm at the 2017 Giant Colon Tour for Colorectal Cancer Awareness taking place at Cornwall Square.
In anticipation of Colon Cancer Awareness month this March, participants and onlookers can explore The Giant Colon, CCAC’s famed attraction and educational tool, a 40 ft. walk-through multimedia exhibition for all ages featuring all the pathologies that may be found inside the human colon, including colorectal cancer.
Dr. Alaa Rostom, Chair of the Division of Gastroenterology at the University of Ottawa and Regional Clinical Lead for Colorectal Cancer Screening/GI Endoscopy, will also be available to speak with media regarding the vital importance of colorectal cancer screening in detecting and preventing colorectal cancer among Canadians, and reducing the rate of mortality from the disease.
Also present will be staff from the Champlain Regional Cancer Program and the CCAC, in addition to local healthcare providers and partners, helping to raise awareness of colorectal cancer and promoting the Ontario Colorectal Cancer Screening Program.
This will be a two day event, located next to The Children’s Place in the vacant space. The exhibit will be open during mall hours for the convenience of all shoppers.
I am pleased to announce that we are one of four sponsored tours for 2017 in Ontario. This exhibit has been very well received and attended in the past year and a great opportunity for the Cornwall area.
