CORNWALL – A South Stormont man has been found guilty on two counts of animal neglect.
Derick Summers, 47, was originally scheduled to go to trial Sept. 28 on two counts of permitting an animal to be in distress and three counts of failing to comply with standards of care.
But court records show Summers entered pleas to a couple of counts of failing to comply with the standards of care.
The other three charges were withdrawn.
Humane society investigators visited a property in July 2016 after receiving a complaint. The SPCA said they found a pony and a horse, both with overgrown hooves and other care issues. There was also a cow on the property with health problems.
Summers was fined a total of $610.
