CORNWALL – Police have made one arrest and another suspect is on the lam after a stolen vehicle struck a police cruiser.

Cornwall Community Police Service Const. Dan Cloutier told Cornwall Newswatch they located the stolen vehicle early this morning (Wednesday) in the 100 block of Bedford Street.

According to investigators, the suspect vehicle had earlier rammed a Cornwall police cruiser after it was boxed in.

A female suspect was arrested at the scene while a male suspect ran away.

A witness told CNW the area was blocked off between Water and Second Streets before 6 a.m. and police were using search lights around a duplex near Bedford and First.

O.P.P. assisted with a canine unit but the male suspect is still at large.

Jason Copp, 22, of no fixed address is considered “unpredictable and desperate and may be looking to find his way out of the city,” police said.

Police are advising you not to approach him but to call 613-933-5000 extension 2418 for dispatch or the anonymous tip line at extension 2404.

Cloutier said the investigation is ongoing and charges are pending against the female suspect.
