CORNWALL – A Cornwall man is facing a number of charges, including attempted murder, after a weekend stabbing on Bergin Avenue.
Police were called around 7 p.m. to a home at the north end of the street for a man suffering from two stab wounds – one to his chest and another in his back, according to authorities.
Cornwall police announced today (Monday) that Eric Vivarais, 33, of Cornwall has been charged with attempted murder, assault with a weapon, possession of a dangerous weapon and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace.
Vivarais has been held for a bail hearing.
Cornwall police Acting Sgt. Derek Duchesne told Cornwall Newswatch Saturday night there were “numerous” witnesses to the attack and those witnesses are being interviewed as part of their investigation.
As for the victim, Duchesne said he was “conscious and talking” with emergency responders when taken to hospital and his injuries were considered to be non-life threatening.
