SD&G – Two county councillors want to sit in the warden’s chair for the final year of their mandate.
South Dundas Mayor Evonne Delegarde and South Glengarry Mayor Ian McLeod both expressed interest in the top position for the upper-tier municipality during Monday’s meeting.
“I would like to put my name forward for the position of warden for the upcoming 2018 year,” Delegarde said.
“I would also like to put my name forward for the position of warden,” McLeod said.
There was no discussion following the expressions of interest.
This would be new territory for Delegarde – her first term as mayor of South Dundas.
McLeod has been warden before in 2011 and has a long tenure in politics, having served on South Glengarry council since 1998.
The voting for the warden will happen Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2017 – the same day council will be meeting most of the day to deal with its information technology (IT) strategic plan as well as deal with its regular agenda.
