SD&G – Recognizing urban development at the south end of County Road 12, west of Long Sault, county council agreed Monday to drop the speed limit.

A 750 meter (2,460 foot) section of the roadway, north of County Road 2, will now be 60 kilometers an hour, reduced from its current 80 kilometers an hour.

The area has a number of homes in the Loyalist Crescent subdivision – a looped roadway off the west side of County Road 12, also known as Wales Drive.

The change follows a public request and an engineering review.

Signs should be going up in the coming days.

According to county stats, roughly 1,017 vehicles use County Road 12 daily.
