CORNWALL – Two members of Cornwall Electric are among a half dozen FortisOntario crew members heading to the islands of Turks and Caicos.

Fortis utilities from across Canada have sent a total of 58 employees (six from Ontario) to help in restoration efforts after the islands were hammered by Hurricane Irma.

They will be concentrating on getting power up to critical infrastructure, like water plants, fire stations, police stations, hospitals and shelters.

“Our thoughts are with the people of Turks and Caicos and their families during the difficult time of hurricane restoration, and we are very proud that our team from FortisOntario can assist in these efforts. We look forward to their safe return,” FortisOntario CEO Scott Hawkes said.

FortisOntario is the parent company of Cornwall Electric.
