CORNWALL – City firefighters are the latest emergency responders to add opioid overdose kits to their arsenal.

The city announced Wednesday the naloxone nasal spray kits are being distributed this week to the fire department and firefighters have been trained in how to use them.

Firefighter Eric Richer, who is the lead for the medical response team, said this “crucial Opioid overdose treatment” will be provided as the region deals with the growing epidemic.

The fire service responds to select medical calls within the city limits before an ambulance arrives on scene.
