Tape deal includes Cornwall Cantech plant

SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. – Two adhesive tape companies – one with a plant in Cornwall – are getting stuck together in a $67 million dollar deal.

Intertape Polymer Group Inc. – with executive headquarters in Sarasota County, Fla. – is buying Canadian Technical Tape Ltd. (Cantech).

The deal is expected to enhance Intertape’s product offering and give it more distribution channels in Canada, the United States and Europe.

Cantech has 250 employees at its plants in Montreal, Cornwall (1400 Rosemount Avenue) and Johnson City, Tenn., where is makes pressure-sensitive adhesive tape for industrial, construction and retail use.

Intertape has 2,200 employees at 17 locations, according to the Sarasota Herald-Tribune.

Intertape also manufactures shrink wrap and packaging sealing systems.
