CORNWALL – A city man is facing a half dozen charges, including arson, after a fast-moving fire in the 300 block of St. Felix Street on Wednesday.

The fire started in the front yard of 316 St. Felix Street and consumed the front of the home plus a pickup truck in a neighbouring driveway as well as caused extensive damage to two neighbouring homes.

Witnesses told Cornwall Newswatch a man had set fire to stuff in a bin on the front lawn, which quickly got out of control.

Cornwall police announced Friday they have charged Robert Myers, 53, of Cornwall with mischief, three counts of arson, possession of incendiary material and a criminal charge related to wilfully destroying a home they are renting.

He was charged on Thursday and was later released with a promise to appear in a Cornwall court on June 15.
