‘Bus issues’ cancel Nationals road game

CORNWALL – The Cornwall Nationals won’t be heading on the road tonight (Sunday) for their game against St. Clair Shores, Mich.

Team spokesman Rodney Wilson said the team had “bus issues” this morning and could not make the 800 kilometer journey.

It initially looked like Cornwall wouldn’t have a chance to gather any points through a makeup game. “I was specifically told it was cancelled and not postponed,” Wilson said in a email to Cornwall Newswatch.

Though Wilson explained the standings are also calculated based on a win percentage.

However, the league tweeted that the game will be rescheduled.

The Nationals were coming off a 4-2 home victory Saturday night against the Watertown Wolves.

Cornwall is sixth in the Federal Hockey League (FHL) standings with a record of 9-15-3-1.

The team will have a couple of home games next weekend against Port Huron and Berlin.
