CORNWALL – One person has died in a Boxing Day fire on St. Felix Street in Cornwall.

An investigator from the Ontario Fire Marshal’s office, along with Cornwall police and an investigator from the Cornwall Fire Department’s fire prevention office are on site today.

The fire started around 1 a.m. at the single family dwelling in the 300 block of St. Felix — between Walton Street and First Street East.

The victim’s name is not being released until relatives are notified.

Platoon Chief Luc Richer told Cornwall Newswatch the Ontario Fire Marshal is leading the investigation at this point.

This is the third fire in Cornwall in four days.

Two buildings went up in flames at Gulf Street and Fourth Street West on Christmas Eve and another apartment in a six-plex was damaged in a fire on Friday night (Dec. 23).
