CORNWALL – Two city councillors are proposing a temporary three-way stop on Cumberland Street at Fourth Street.

Couns. David Murphy and Justin Towndale proposed the temporary intersection at Monday night’s council meeting in the form of a new business item.

In his motion, Murphy said the street has more traffic due to Brookdale Avenue construction and that has “caused local residents distress and residents have safety concerns,” specifically around Cumberland Street and Fourth Street.

The stop would be up until Brookdale Avenue is fully open to traffic again.

A report will be coming back on the feasibility of the three-way stop at the Sept. 26, 2016 council meeting.
