LUNENBURG – A tense situation for SD&G O.P.P. officers where a roadside fight with a drunk driver included attempts to grab an officer’s gun.

The situation has led to nine charges for a South Stormont man.

An officer pulled over a vehicle on County Road 12 around 10:30 p.m. Sunday (Aug. 7) and found the driver had been drinking.

When they tried to arrest him, the accused fought officers and tried to grab an officer’s gun.

“While in custody the male made other attempts to assault the officers and also caused damage to a police cruiser,” the O.P.P. said.

A 28-year-old South Stormont man is charged with drunk driving, three counts of disarming a police officer, two counts of assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, mischief and possession of a dangerous weapon.

He was held for a bail hearing in a Cornwall court.
