Arrest made in Cornwall pharmacy robbery

CORNWALL – Police have made an arrest in an armed robbery of a Brookdale Avenue pharmacy last month.

Cornwall police went to the Ottawa Carleton Detention Center yesterday (July 5) where they formally charged Matthew Armstrong, 29, of Ottawa.

He is facing a single count each of armed robbery, possession of a dangerous weapon, possession of a disguise with intent, driving while disqualified and two counts of vehicle theft.

The Shoppers Drug Mart was robbed by knife-point by two men wearing bandannas or cloths over their face on June 20, 2016.

They got away in a van with narcotics and cash.

Armstrong was arrested in Ottawa on June 22, 2016 after Ottawa police had stopped a driver who had fled in a stolen vehicle from Cornwall.

Cornwall police also have an arrest warrant out for Adam Martin, 33, of Akwesasne.
