GLEN ROBERTSON – Firefighters are battling a blaze at, what is described as a welding shop, in Glen Robertson.

The fire is at 21976 Main Street in Glen Robertson and pictures from the scene show clouds of black smoke billowing over the community.

The property has a two storey home as well as a separated workshop and a Quonset. The separated workshop is burning and it appears the home is intact.

Locals have described the location on social media as Lefebvre Welding.

Loud explosions could be heard from the contents burning in the building.

South Glengarry firefighters were called in under mutual aid this evening to provide water support, manpower and equipment to their North Glengarry counterparts.

Glen Robertson is roughly 12 kilometers east of Alexandria and five kilometers from the Ontario-Quebec border.
