CORNWALL – Cornwall’s hospital has received part of a $6 million provincial package for mental health services.
The money is specifically targeted at helping children and youth and their families.
The Cornwall Community Hospital – the lead agency for children’s mental health in SD&G – has received $104,000.
The money will be used for crisis support services to English, French and Aboriginal youth in SD&G and Akwesasne.
Crisis support staff will work with the hospital’s emergency department and local schools to identify, plan and triage local cases.
It’s estimated one in five children in Ontario experience a mental health challenge at some point in their life.
