CORNWALL – A 20-year-old city man is charged with sexual assault in connection to an alleged attack on his sister.

Cornwall police allege it happened sometime during a three year period, the earliest account happening in 2012.

Due to the sensitivity of the case, at the request of the investigating officer, police would not say whether it was one sexual assault or multiple attacks.

The sister would have been seven years old at the time, said police.

The accused came to police headquarters on Monday and turned himself in.

He was later released with a promise to appear in court.

Cornwall Police Const. Dan Cloutier told Cornwall Newswatch there is no risk to the general public.

His name hasn’t been released in order to protect the identity of the victim.
