MORRISBURG – On a hot and muggy day, children got a chance to cool off at a new summer play space in Morrisburg.

The long-awaited splash pad officially opened at 10 a.m. Tuesday, to the delight of the young…and maybe caught the eye of the young-at-heart.

It will be open daily during the summer from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.

An official ceremony will happen Saturday afternoon at 12:30 p.m.

It’s been a $200,000 dream-in-the-making for the Splash Pad Project committee.

Meantime, construction of the washroom at Earl Baker Park is about half completed.

Wells and Sons Construction of Morrisburg is expected to have the washroom completed by July 31 or it will face penalties under its contract with the municipality.

The township signed a $35,000 contract last month for the excavation and the water works for the splash pad.
