CORNWALL – After a decade volunteering with the Cornwall Community Hospital board of directors, Michael Turcotte is calling it a day.

Turcotte joined in September 2005 to fill a vacancy and then served three, three-year terms on the board.

He was vice chairman from 2011-2013 and then head of the hospital board from 2013 up until last night (Thursday).

The podiatrist received a friendly roast during the annual general meeting.

“A lot has happened from the time that I first came on the board. I learned a tremendous amount. I gained a tremendous amount of information, learning about health care and best practices,” Turcotte told the AGM audience.

“I can truly say that this hospital, everybody is dedicated 100 per cent. Everybody wants what’s best for the hospital, what’s best for the patient and patient care and I truly believe that. I think moving forward…I’m really confident that this hospital is going to do great things,” Turcotte said.

Turcotte was presented with a plaque for his contribution.

The new board chairwoman is Melanie Baker Brown, who was previously sitting as vice chairwoman.
