Minivan strikes tree on Second Street East

CORNWALL – A minivan driver was taken to hospital after striking a tree on Second Street East Tuesday afternoon.

City police, firefighters and paramedics to called to the single vehicle crash in the 1400 block of Second Street East, near Saint Lawrence High School around 4 p.m.

A male driver and three children in the vehicle were transported to hospital by ambulance to be checked over.

The force of the crash took a large chunk out of the tree and sent parts of minivan flying across the grass and sidewalk into the property of the high school.

The cause is not known as police were still investigating and were waiting to speak to the driver at the hospital.

Westbound traffic was temporarily blocked at Anthony Street but the road fully reopened at 4:51 p.m.
