Pets perish in weekend bungalow fire

LANCASTER – A couple of family pets have died in a weekend fire at a bungalow on Concession Road 7.

South Glengarry Fire Services were called around 6 p.m. Saturday night and about 30 firefighters from Martintown, Williamstown, Lancaster and North Lancaster went to the scene.

Fire Chief Vic Leroux says the building is a total loss and the owner was away at the time of the fire.

Two animals inside were unable to escape the flames.

The cause of the fire is undetermined.

The owner did have insurance.
