CORNWALL – The e-waste recycling drive by St. Lawrence College’s Green Team has exceeded expectations.

A weekend drop-off event on Saturday (March 28) to wrap up the event caught organizers by surprise – they had so much waste dropped off they had to get a second container from Lafleche Environmental to hold it all.

During the three month campaign, the group has collected 4.39 metric tons of electronic waste.

“I think we’ve done really well,” says outgoing Green Team President Mesha Boyer.

The SLC Green Team Tri-Community Recycling Challenge has been running since Jan. 7 – a friendly competition between SLC’s three campuses to see who collected the most waste.

If you missed out on getting rid of your e-waste, you still can.

The Green Team is accepting e-waste until April 17 where is can be left by the big, blue bin at the rear of the college, in the west parking lot, on weekdays only from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
