CORNWALL – The St. River Institute of Environmental Sciences received a flow meter, donated by Greyline Instruments Inc. in Long Sault. The flow meter is a sophisticated piece of equipment that will allow the River Institute to continue the environmental projects it is currently working on.
“We are very grateful to Greyline Instruments for this donation,” said Dr. Jeff Ridal, Executive Director at the River Institute, “This instrument will be used for many different projects at the River Institute. For example, it will be used to assess the impacts of storm water runoff and discharge from industrial sites. It will also be used to understand the spatial patterns of contaminants in sediments, and it will help us to characterize fish habitat and identify sites suited for species rehabilitation.”
Greyline is a leader in ultrasonic instrumentation for industrial and environmental uses. The company develops and manufactures many types of measurement instruments such as ultrasonic level transmitters, flow meters and open channel flow meters.
“The River Institute is a prime research facility that needs sophisticated equipment for its work, and Greyline manufactures the instruments required for flow measurement right here in Eastern Ontario,” said Ernie Higginson of Greyline Instruments, “We are proud to support this local scientific organization.”
