SD&SG – A second candidate has stepped into the running for the Liberal nomination in SD&SG, ahead of this year’s federal election.

During a spaghetti dinner at Knights of Columbus Wednesday night President Jamie Labonte of the Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry Federal Liberal Riding Association announced a local business owner and educator as the second candidate hopeful.

Corey Kalsi is the new player, running against Patricia Pichette, who announced her nomination in December 2014.

Kalsi, a 35 year old resident of Williamstown, has always had strong community and family ties. In the past, he served on the Board of Directors for the Cornwall Hospital Foundation, he is a special education consultant for assisted tech with the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario, as well as working alongside his father at Kalrim Cycles and Sports. Even during his time away from home, while attending Nippising University, he was frequently coming back to his community.

Kalsi wishes to bring the focus of the Liberal riding back to the people, to create a platform that listens and engages the community at its best. Kalsi believes that each small part of the community has its own needs and requirements, but that to bring it all together as one, is the way to create a solid foundation.

“I know we must work more to bringing more economical development to all regions in our community…all regions,” said Kalsi, “I believe that now I’m at a point in my life where I have the experience necessary to take on the responsibilities of a Member of Parliament, and also to continue to learn and grow.”

Surrounded by his friends, family and supporters, Kalsi reaches out for support in the upcoming year.

“I look forward to an exciting nomination race and I ask for your support in earning the privilege of representing our community as a Liberal candidate for Stormont, Dundas and South Glengarry in the upcoming federal election.”
