CORNWALL – Cradled in the arms of her grandmother late Thursday morning, little Hannah Hallie Shaver was taking in her first sights and sounds in this world.

Her mom, Robyn Shaver of Cornwall, has the distinction of giving birth to SD&G’s New Year’s baby of 2015.

“It’s amazing (having the first baby of 2015). It’s one of those things you don’t think is going to happen to you,” Shaver told Cornwall Newswatch.

Hannah Hallie Shaver is seven pounds, six ounces and was born at 6:50 a.m.

Mom says the pregnancy was very normal but Hannah came out pretty fast.

“They (the hospital staff) didn’t think she was going to come because they kept saying nothing’s happening. And then I woke up and they were like ‘Oh my God, you’re at five (centimeters)’ and then 15 minutes later you’re at nine (centimeters),” Shaver said.

Shaver, 24, says the new addition to the family will bring a lot of responsibility to Hannah’s half-sister, Chloee Emond.

“She knows that she has to teach her how to be a princess,” Shaver said. “She’s (Chloee) got lots of work to do,” added grandmother Jane Shaver.

A baby arrived in Winchester at 12:26 p.m. on Jan 1.
