Two weeks in, RIDE catches one drunk driver

SD&G – Almost two weeks into the Festive RIDE Program and dozens of spot checks, police have laid one impaired driving charge.

O.P.P. officers set up 38 spot checks around the United Counties and checked 1,600 vehicles.

Here are the results of their campaign:

  • Three suspended driver charges
  • One three day suspension
  • Four Highway Traffic Act charges
  • Three Highway Traffic Act warnings
  • Two charges under the compulsory Automobile Act
  • One impaired driver
  • Two drug charges

The one impaired driver was caught at a spot check in Chesterville at 2 a.m. on Thursday last week.

An 18-year-old from South Dundas is facing a number of charges including not having a zero blood-alcohol level for being a young driver.

The RIDE campaign continues until Jan. 2, 2015.
