SD&G O.P.P. want you to K.I.S.S. this holiday season

SD&G – It’s the time of year for making plans during Christmas parties and other holiday outings.

The O.P.P. Festive R.I.D.E. Campaign begins Monday and will run until Jan. 2, 2015.

Officers will be out in force looking for impaired drivers at spot checks across the region and across the province.

In Winchester, the SD&G O.P.P. are teaming up with the North Dundas District High School and the Ontario Students Against Impaired Driving to get you to K.I.S.S. this holiday season.

It’s an acronym for Keep It Safe and Sober.

Officers and students will be handing out little packages of Hershey Kisses at the Winchester Tim Horton’s from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. to send the message home with drivers.

Up to the end of September, there have been 5,685 impaired driving charges laid by O.P.P. province-wide. That’s down 17 per cent from 2013.

But O.P.P. are concerned with the 32 per cent increase this year in drug impaired driving cases compared to 2013.
