CORNWALL – With the Salvation Army “Fill the Kettle” campaign about to get underway, the Cornwall River Kings is helping out the charity.
The LNAH hockey team has made a $2,500 donation and is challenging other local businesses to match or give what they can.
The River Kings will be hosting Thetford-Mines on Saturday night where Salvation Army reps will do the ceremonial puck drop while the Sally Ann band will perform Oh Canada.
Two donation kettles will also be at the game at the Civic Complex.
The Salvation Army provides food for more than 300 families a month and also operates a school breakfast and lunch bag program at two local schools.
You will also see the kettles around town at seven locations starting Monday: Walmart, the Food Basics locations on Brookdale and Second East, Baxtrom’s Your Independent Grocer, Farm Boy, Freshco and No Frills.
The campaign runs until Dec. 4.
