CORNWALL – Sunshine and an unseasonably mild day greeted hundreds of Cornwall-area residents at the city cenotaph for a Remembrance Day ceremony.
The area around Second and Bedford was a sea of people marking the day to recognize those who paid the ultimate price and those who are still on active duty.
Royal Canadian Legion poppy campaign chairman Hugh Primeau Jr. said not only victims of foreign conflicts be immortalized but also those closer to home, indirectly referring to the deaths of Cpl. Nathan Cirillo and Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent.
The Cornwall crowd was much like other services across the country that saw a larger turnout this year, possibly due to the recent terrorist-related events on home soil.
