Cornwall advance polling down from 2010, 2006 elections

CORNWALL – The numbers were strong but not as strong as in previous elections.

The city says 3,203 voters cast ballots in the advance polls for the municipal election.

That’s down slightly from the 3,879 papers run through the vote tabulating machines in 2010.

In 2006, there were 3,822 voters in the advance polls and, at that time, there were five candidates running for mayor and 27 for city councillor.

“We’re hoping for a high level of voter participation in this year’s election and the turnout we experienced for the advance voting is a great start,” said City Clerk Helen Finn.

You’re last chance to vote is on Monday – Election Day – and there are 10 polling locations in the city. You can find the list of locations on your voter card and on the city website.
