O.P.P. water conscious for civic weekend

SD&G, Ont. – Local O.P.P. will be out in force for the civic holiday weekend and officers will be paying particular attention to the water. The police force says alcohol was a factor in 42% of the 18 boating-related deaths so far this season across Ontario. Police will be partnering with the Canadian Boating Council for Operation Dry Water focusing on impaired boating. O.P.P. will be doing random spot checks on the water, checking for equipment and encouraging boaters to wear their lifejackets. Provincial police have also released a new series of chilling TV and radio PSA’s about the fallout of not wearing a lifejacket.
