Cornwall police spat on after arresting drunk

CORNWALL, Ont. — A Cornwall man is facing charges after two police officers were spat on at city police headquarters. A 36-year-old man was arrested yesterday at a Second Street East home and charged with being intoxicated in a public place after cops were called about a disturbance. But things quickly escalated at the police station when the drunken man allegedly spat on two police officers while they were booking him. Two counts of assaulting police were added to his initial charge. The man is being held for a bail hearing.
